1. Who we are
Vclip is a browser extension that saves part of a video, plus this website, tryvclip.com. In this policy, “Vclip”, “we” and “us” mean the people who make Vclip. You can reach us at hello@tryvclip.com.
2. What Vclip keeps, and where
Everything below stays on your computer, inside your browser or in your Downloads folder. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.

Vclip records the video your browser is already playing, as it plays. It doesn't download videos from the site, and it only records the part you choose, when you press Save.
3. What we never collect
- Your clips, screenshots or recordings.
- The videos you watch, or your browsing history.
- Your name or email, unless you join the early testers (section 6), email us or buy Vclip Pro (sections 7 and 8).
- Usage statistics, analytics, or advertising identifiers.
- Cookies, on this website or in the extension.
4. Why Vclip asks for its permissions
When you install Vclip, your browser lists what it's allowed to do. Here's each one, and what it's for:
- Read and change data on the websites you visit
- To find the video on the page you're watching and show the Clip button and panel over it. Vclip only works with the video you choose to clip, and only on your computer.
- Storage, and unlimited storage
- To keep your My Clips library, which grows as you save clips.
- Downloads
- To save a copy of each clip in Downloads › Vclip.
- Scripting
- To start Vclip in tabs that were already open when you installed it, so you don't have to reload them.
5. Your clipboard
When you take a screenshot, Vclip copies the picture to your clipboard so you can paste it into a chat or an email. Vclip never reads your clipboard.
6. This website
- tryvclip.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or trackers.
- Its fonts and videos come from tryvclip.com itself, not from other companies.
- Like any website, the company that hosts it may keep standard server logs, such as your IP address and the pages you asked for, for a limited time, to keep the site running and secure.
- Buttons such as “Email me the link” open your own email app. Nothing reaches us unless you choose to send it.
- If you join the early testers (tryvclip.com/testers), we keep the name and email you give us, what you'd clip first if you tell us, and which browser you used, so we can send you new tester versions and ask how Vclip is working for you. It's kept by Netlify, the company that hosts this website, and we never sell or share it. Email hello@tryvclip.com any time and we'll delete it.
- On the Welcome page (tryvclip.com/welcome), Vclip tells that page which of its five steps you've done, so it can tick them off. This stays in your browser: the page remembers your ticks on your computer and sends nothing to us. No other page is told anything.
7. If you email us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to reply to you, and we don't share them.
8. Vclip Pro and payments
Vclip Pro is our paid plan, opening soon (until then, everything in Vclip is free and we keep no account details). When you buy it, we keep your email address and which plan you have, so we can give you Pro, send your receipts and help if something goes wrong. We don't sell or share them. Your payment is handled by our payment provider: your card details go to them, and we never see them. Buying Pro doesn't change where your clips are: they still never leave your computer.
10. Your choices
- Delete a clip from My Clips at any time.
- Stop the Downloads copy in the Vclip menu, so clips are kept in My Clips only.
- Uninstall Vclip to remove your My Clips library and settings from your browser. Copies in Downloads › Vclip are ordinary files: they stay until you delete them.
- Because we don't hold your data, there's nothing for us to delete or hand over. You're still welcome to ask us anything.
11. Children
Vclip isn't made for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
12. Chrome Web Store
Vclip's use of information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For a significant change, we'll also say so on this website.
